Sydney railway rampage suspect denied bail

A Sydney man who allegedly went on a late-night rampage at Central Station during which he threatened to throw a man onto the tracks has failed in his bid to be released from jail.

Zachary Anderson was denied bail when he appeared in the Supreme Court on Monday over the February 27 incident.

Police allege the 28-year-old had to be pepper-sprayed and tasered after a violent rampage during which he punched several people including an officer.

Anderson had been found asleep on a train about 11.15pm and was awoken by a guard and asked to leave the carriage.

He's accused of then becoming violent during a series of confrontations including threatening to throw a person onto the tracks in front of an oncoming train.

He is facing 10 offences including four counts of assaulting police, two counts of common assault as well as affray.

Police allege he was only brought under control when he was tasered and pepper-sprayed.

Anderson is scheduled to return to court in April.
