Sydney man to face court for train assault

A man who punched two Sydney Trains employees in a violent early morning attack will face court on a number of assault charges.

The train staff discovered the man on a terminated train at Hurstville Station early on Saturday morning, and were set upon when they tried to lead him from the platform.

Police allege the passenger punched a 52-year-old male worker several times to the face, before punching his 38-year-old co-worker when he tried to help his colleague.

The men were allegedly assaulted a second time before they were able to close the station shutters.

A 21-year-old from Sutherland has been charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and an unrelated charge of destroy or damage property.

He has been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
