Sydney man found dead in driveway was a 'funny, smiling' friend

A young Sydney man found stabbed to death in a stranger's driveway was described as a "laughing, smiling person" by friends as police try to piece together the last moments of his life.

Gwar Garmo, or 'George' to friends, was found dead in a pool of blood in the driveway a of a Bossley Park family's home around 11.30pm on Saturday night.

The family with teenage children arrived home to find a white van in their driveway with a dead Mr Garmo lying at their front door.

The 20-year-old was believed to be at a party nearby when a fight broke out, Fairfax reports.

It is thought Mr Garmo jumped the back fence of the stranger's home while being chased by his attackers before trying to flee down the driveway.

One friend, Rich Ie described Mr Garmo as a loyal and well-liked friend who was "a nice guy".

"He was always laughing and smiling. Just a funny, happy person (who) had a lot of respect," Mr Ie said.

Mr Garmo and Mr Ie were to meet up on Saturday evening for a friend's birthday but their plans changed.

Investigators are not yet certain whether Mr Garmo was killed in the driveway or elsewhere as police try to pull neighbours' pieces of information together.

"Apparently the guy was at a party and he was walking home, or going with friends, I don't know who it was," neighbour Lucas Manero told Fairfax.

It is believed Mr Garmo called his girlfriend for a lift but he died before she was able to arrive.
