Sydney lockout laws lifted for NYE

Sydney's lockout laws will again be lifted on New Year's Eve in a bid to stop more than a million revellers swamping the city's roads and public transport system.

Kings Cross and Central Business District pubs and clubs won't be forced to knock people back at 1.30am, but will still have to stop serving drinks at 3am.

The usual midnight curfew on vessels dropping partygoers into the Sydney CBD will only apply from 3am to 7am on New Year's Day.
