Sydney cop badly hurt in dramatic arrest

A female detective needs reconstructive surgery after being seriously injured while arresting one of two men accused of money laundering in Sydney.

The woman was assaulted while trying to take a 33-year-old man into custody at Artamon on Wednesday.

A 34-year-old Canadian national was also arrested by police a short time later at Bondi Junction.

Police seized more than $1.1 million in cash and other money laundering and drug production items during searches following the arrests.

Both men are now facing a string of serious charges.
