Sydney church sustains ‘significant damage’ in blaze

Fire crews were called to the blaze last night.
A church in Sydney has been seriously damaged after a large fire overnight.
Emergency services were called to the decommissioned church in Sydenham about 8.30pm yesterday.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze but not before it caused "significant damage" to the rear of the building.
Police said no one was injured during the incident and no evacuations were required.
Officers have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
