Family of indecently assaulted girl, 6, fear attacker may return

The family of a six-year-old girl who was cornered and indecently assaulted at a Sydney unit block said they fear the offender could return.

Police are looking for a man who touched a young girl's face and exposed himself after luring her to the rear of a Cabramatta unit block.

The girl was riding her bike with her eight-year-old brother in the grounds of the complex yesterday afternoon when she was approached by the man.

Police were told the man pushed the six-year-old towards the back of the block and performed an indecent act, before witnesses yelled out from a window and he fled.

The girl's grandfather said he was thankful his neighbour had called out to scare the man away.

He said the girl was not overly scared, but was very quiet after the attack.

The girl's mother said was was "terrified, in shock and still shaking".

"I don't know how (the offender) can do this to girls," she said.

"I'm warning other parents to look after their kids."

The girl's father said he got straight into the car and drove the streets looking for the offender after the attack, and alerted police.

The offender is described as Middle Eastern or Mediterranean in appearance, aged in his late 30's or early 40's, about 190cm tall with facial hair, wearing a black cap with a black or brown jumper, light blue jeans and grey joggers.

Police have urged anyone who may have seen a man loitering in unit complexes around the McBurney Road area to contact them.
