Swimmers remember NSW teen

Swimmers across the country are posting photos of their squad caps on social media in a moving tribute to a talented NSW teenager, who has died after being struck by a car.

Jade Frith, 15, died in hospital on Thursday afternoon, two days after she was hit as she crossed a road in Warners Bay, in the NSW Hunter region.

Jade, who was a member of Novocastrian Swim Club, is being remembered on social media under the hashtag #capsoutforjade.

"Never stop swimming up there," one tribute under the hashtag reads.

"You obviously touched the hearts of those around you," says another.

Jade was reportedly on her way to practice when she was hit.

The tragedy has prompted more than 100 posts of grief on her Facebook profile and garnered attention from elite sports figures.

"My heart is deeply saddened to hear the news about Jade Frith today. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family," Olympic swimmer Tommy Fraser-Holmes said after Jade was hit.

"I hope you had the best time you could have ever had while you were here, but god wanted an angel and he chose you," a poster on Jade's profile said.

Police are investigating the fatal collision.

The 22-year-old driver was not injured.

Several sports clubs from the region have vowed to wear tape in Ms Frith's memory at games this weekend.
