Suspicious fire at Sydney chicken shop

A fire at a Sydney chicken shop is being treated as suspicious as police investigate if there is any link to a recent drive-by shooting.

Emergency crews were called to Kingsgrove Road, Kingsgrove, at 2.45am on Monday where they found the Cheeky Chooks business well alight.

Six fire trucks attended the blaze.

"Their main concern was for the residential units above," Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Ian Krimmer told AAP.

"Fifty people were evacuated safely and within 10-15 minutes the fire was contained to the chicken shop."
