Suspended NSW driver arrested for speeding

A suspended NSW driver will face court after he allegedly reached a speed of 200km/h while young children were in the car.

Police say they saw a white car doing a burnout at a Wollongong intersection on Wednesday night.

Highway patrol officers followed the vehicle and allegedly saw the driver crossing into the wrong lane.

The car hit a top speed of 200km/h in a 110km/h zone on the M1 motorway before it was stopped at Darkes Forest.

At the time of the incident, a woman and two children, aged six and eight, were in the vehicle.

A 28-year-old Ambarvale man was issued with court attendance notices.

His licence was already suspended for unpaid fines and police confiscated the vehicle's number plates for three months.

He will face Port Kembla Local Court on February 17.
