Suspended Lib MPs pulled from committees

Four NSW MPs forced to stand down from the Liberal Party after being named by the corruption watchdog have been dumped from their committee positions.

Leader of the NSW lower house Anthony Roberts told parliament on Wednesday the beleaguered MPs had been "discharged" from their posts.

Londonderry member Bart Bassett has been removed from the Committee on the Ombudsman, the Police Integrity Commission and the Crime Commission.

He moved to the crossbenches in August after the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) heard allegations he received an $18,000 campaign contribution from Nathan Tinkler's Buildev in exchange for favours on a housing project. He denies the allegation.

Swansea MP Garry Edwards has been cut from committees after claims he received about $1500 from banned property donor Jeff McCloy in the lead-up to 2011 election. He also denies these claims.

Wyong MP Darren Webber and member for The Entrance Chris Spence have also been pulled from committees.

Both MPs have quit the Liberal Party and are not recontesting their seats in the March election.

Two ICAC inquiries this year have relegated 10 Liberal MPs to the crossbenches and forced former Newcastle MP Tim Owen and Charlestown MP Andrew Cornwell to quit parliament.
