Suicide not likely in Sydney drug death

A coronial inquiry into a French-born millionaire who died from a drug overdose in his Sydney apartment has heard that he probably didn't kill himself.

David Monlun, 40, was found lying face down in his home near Darling Harbour on May 30, 2011, and fatal levels of the drug GBH and ice were found in his system, the inquiry heard.

Several witnesses and experts testified during the hearings at the Glebe Coroners Court and counsel assisting Simon Buchen on Wednesday said there was no evidence of suicide.

He also told Deputy State Coroner Sharon Freund that she should not make any recommendations from the inquest.

The inquest previously heard Mr Monlun was in a drug-taking, volatile, highly-sexual intermittent relationship with Sarah Manning.

On the final night of Mr Monlun's life, Ms Manning and Jamie Philp, a long-term user of GHB, were captured on CCTV footage leaving his unit.

Not long after they left, the French-born millionaire deteriorated, lost his balance and dropped a phone.

Later that morning he was found dead.

Ms Freund is due to hand down her finding into Monlun's death on August 4.
