Stomping attack at Newcastle pub

A man has allegedly punched another to the ground and stomped on his head during an attack at a Newcastle pub.

Police say the 44-year-old victim was hospitalised as a result of the assault, at a hotel in Hamilton about 1am on Sunday.

Officers are seeking a man believed to have an Irish accent.
