Speed may have been factor in Sydney P-plate crash

Police are investigating if speed was a factor in a crash involving a P-plate driver in Sydney's southwest last night.

At about 7.30pm last night a white Nissan 200SX sports car mounted a gutter on Rose Street in Yagoona before driving across the driveway of a service station and crashing into a large sign before coming to rest on a footpath.

Two 19-year-old men inside the car were briefly trapped before being released by emergency services and taken to Liverpool Hospital, but no-one else was injured in the accident.

Police have urged any witnesses to come forward as officers from Bankstown Local Area Command begin investigations into the crash.

Police said they are looking into several lines of inquiry, including the possibility of street racing, to determine factors in the accident.
