Six injured in two separate car crashes outside two schools in Wollongong

Police are investigating after six people were injured in two separate car crashes outside two separate schools in Wollongong.

At about 3pm today a car mounted a footpath on Church Street and hit four parents who were waiting to collect their children from school.

A man aged in his 40s and a woman aged in her 30s were taken to Wollongong Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Church Street has been closed with motorists advised to avoid the area.

A short time later police were called to another incident less than 5km away on Fairy Avenue at Fairy Meadow, where they found a six-year-old boy and his mother injured.

The pair were hit by a car while crossing the road outside a primary school.

They were taken to Wollongong Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
