The search for a rock fisherman who went missing off the coast of Wollongong is set to resume at first light.

The man in his 60s left Bankstown in Sydney on Saturday morning to go fishing in Port Kembla and has not been seen or heard from since, police say.

His vehicle was found in a beachside car park in Port Kembla on Monday.
