Search crews have suspended their third day of looking for a man missing in NSW's flood-ravaged central west.

The 49-year-old was last seen on Friday afternoon at a lake near Burcher, southwest of Forbes, where his car and boat trailer, but not his boat, were found.

More than 100 volunteers and emergency services personnel will return to the area on Tuesday morning.

Central western NSW has been hit hard by floodwaters over the past fortnight, with damage estimated to be in the tens of millions of dollars.

More than 1000 people evacuated from around Forbes and Condobolin might not be able to return home for at least a week.

Some properties in Wagga Wagga also remain on evacuation alert as the Murrumbidgee River is expected to peak at 8.9 metres on Monday night.

And the Lachlan River at Condobolin is forecast to peak at 7.2 metres on Wednesday, its highest level since 1990.
