Salim Mehajer’s infamous mansion up for rent

Controversial former Auburn mayor Salim Mehajer has put his house, which was the centrepiece of his extravagant 2015 wedding, up for rent.

The six-bedroom, five-bathroom property was advertised on Domain this week at a rental price of $2950 per week and with a bond of $11,800.

Mr Mehajer, 31, purchased the home in Lidcombe’s Frances Street for just $565,000 in 2007 before carrying out extensive renovations.

According to the listing, the 800-square-metre house has underground parking for 13 cars, a security system including 56 cameras, an elevator, private sauna, home theatre, heated swimming pool and sunken spa baths.

"This near new residence has its own lift [and] presents a versatile floor plan to accommodate the largest of families or for those [of] you [who] enjoy the finer things in life," the listing says.

Mr Mehajer’s home has been featured in music videos and magazine photo shoots.

He caused national controversy after he closed the street for his lavish wedding in 2015, which included a convoy of luxury cars.

That same year it was alleged he had not paid a contractor $15,000 for the installation of an onyx marble staircase.

In a post on Instagram, Mr Mehajer said he would be upgrading to a different home but would not disclose where.

“After 29 years, I've decided to leave the Suburb of Lidcombe. Born and raised in this street / suburb, I've decided to finally rent it out to one luck (sic) family,” he captioned the post.

“Yes it's for Lease and NOT sale… Did you know I designed, built and hand picked every single item in the house, from the screws that are the hinges to the light bulb luminosity.

“Opps (sic), there will be no disclosure of where in Sydney I'll be moving to.”
