Roger Rogerson won't make bail bid

Former NSW detective Roger Rogerson won't apply for bail when his case for murdering a young university student comes before court for the second time.

The colourful retired police officer was arrested in dramatic scenes at his south-west Sydney home in May.

The 73-year-old's his case is due to be mentioned in Sydney's Central Local Court on Tuesday.

His lawyer Paul Kenny said his client would not be making a bid for bail and is not expected to appear in court.

Rogerson's alleged accomplice, whistleblower and former Kings Cross detective Glen McNamara, was arrested two days before Rogerson.

Both have been charged over the shooting murder of 20-year-old student Jamie Gao in a rented storage shed, and with commercial drug supply.

It is alleged Rogerson, 73, and McNamara, 55, met Mr Gao over a 3kg drug deal on May 20 in Padstow.

Mr Gao's body, wrapped in blue tarpaulin, was found bobbing in the waters off Cronulla a week later.
