NSW Police remember fallen officers

Hundreds of NSW police officers have gathered in Sydney to remember the sacrifices and service of their fallen colleagues and friends.

Commissioner Michael Fuller joined them at the Police Wall of Remembrance in the Domain on Friday morning to "recognise and honour the courage, commitment and selfless loyalty of those officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty and through other circumstances".

Fifteen names were added this year and for the first time officers who took their own lives as a result of their policing duties were included on the wall.

Since the formation of the state's police force in 1862, NSW has lost 269 members in the line of duty and through injury or illness.

"Danger has always been an officer's companion and sometimes the oath to protect and serve has a tragic outcome," Mr Fuller said.

Police Minister Troy Grant and Justice Margaret Beazley also attended the service.
