Child-sex suspects nabbed in regional NSW

Three men in regional NSW have been caught in an online sting in which they allegedly made sexually explicit comments to police officers posing as underage girls.

A 52-year-old man was arrested at a Wagga Wagga cinema on Wednesday after he allegedly asked to meet a 14-year-old girl for sexual activity during the covert police operation.

Police seized a computer, electronic storage devices and numerous railway detonators from a home in the suburb of Mount Austin and charged the man with using a carriage service to procure a person aged under 16.

He was refused bail ahead of an expected appearance at Wagga Wagga Local Court in July.

Another Wagga Wagga man, aged 27, was nabbed after allegedly engaging in sexually explicit talk with an officer posing as a 13-year-old girl.

On Friday police raided a house in Glenfield Park, taking numerous electronic devices for further testing.

The man has been charged with using a carriage service to transmit indecent communication and groom a person aged under 16. He was granted bail and is due to face Wagga Wagga Local Court next month.

In a separate incident, police say a 39-year-old man who thought he was talking to the mother of an 11-year-old girl made sexually explicit comments about her daughter.

The man was arrested at a home in Ungarie on Thursday, where officers seized a computer and electronic storage devices.

He's been charged with using a carriage service for child pornography and was granted bail to appear at West Wyalong Local Court in June.
