Record drink driving charge in NSW

A woman who crashed her car on the NSW north coast was allegedly almost nine times above the legal limit in what police say is the highest drink driving reading in the state's history.

The 52-year-old returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.486, well above the legal limit of 0.05.

She came to police attention after crashing a car into a fence at Boambee East near Coffs Harbour about 2.45pm on January 13.

The result of a blood sample was confirmed last Friday.

The woman's driver's licence has been seized and she has been ordered to appear at the Coffs Harbour Local Court on May 2 to face a charge of high-range PCA (prescribed concentration of alcohol).
