Queensland man arrested over alleged abduction of woman from NSW caravan

Police have charged a Queensland man after he allegedly threatened to stab another man before abducting his wife from a caravan in the Hawkesbury district of NSW.

It is alleged a 29-year-old Queensland man forced entry into the caravan on Cattai Road just before 7am yesterday.

Inside a heated exchange took place with the occupants before the man left, taking a 22-year-old women with him.

The remaining caravan resident contacted Hawkesbury Local Area Command as officers commenced their investigations.

Shortly after, with the assistance of Traffic and Highway Patrol, the 29-year-old man’s car was discovered in North Parramatta where he was apprehended and taken to Parramatta Police Station.

Later, following treatment for an arm injury at Westmead Hospital, he was returned to the police station and charged with being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Windsor Local Court on June 9.

The man’s vehicle has been seized for forensic examination and inquiries into the incident continue.
