A Queensland man who allegedly failed to stop for a random breath test in Sydney has led police on a chase lasting 100 kilometres.

Officers tried to pull over a Queensland-registered car at Parramatta in the city's west on Tuesday but gave up on an initial pursuit on the Great Western Highway at Westmead.

The car was spotted almost an hour later in Liverpool and officers chased the driver onto the Hume Motorway.

They arrested the 26-year-old when he finally stopped the car on the Colo Vale off-ramp and attempted to run away.

No one was injured in the chase and the man is assisting police at Bowral Police Station.
