An Irish tourist allegedly knocked unconscious by his brother on a Sydney street is back on his feet.

A photo posted on Facebook shows Patrick Lyttle, 31, standing and smiling, his head shaven and bandaged.

"There's a photo we're all glad to see," a friend commented.

Lyttle has been recovering at Sydney's St Vincent's Hospital since January 3, when his older brother, Barry, 33, allegedly punched him in the head during an argument at Potts Point.

He will reportedly spend a number of weeks in a rehabilitation centre before being released by doctors.

Barry Lyttle has been charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.

In a court appearance last month, his bail conditions were changed to allow him to move closer to the hospital.
