Power restored to three Sydney suburbs

Electricity has been restored to three suburbs in Sydney's inner west after a downed powerline plunged them into darkness and caused traffic chaos.

Emergency repairs were required after a major powerline fell on Parramatta Road just before 9am, closing the arterial route in both directions.

Power was restored to about 23,000 homes and businesses in Burwood, Homebush and Concord just after 12.30pm and Ausgrid is investigating what caused the line to fall.
