Police searching for man after armed robbery in Sydney’s inner-city

Police are hunting a thief after an armed robbery at a convenience store in Sydney’s Potts Point just before midnight last night.

The alleged culprit, dressed in a hooded purple jacket, is seen on CCTV entering the Victoria Street store with what appears to be a firearm drawn at the 28-year-old store worker, before he forces him towards the till with it pointed to his back.

He then raids the store’s cash register before fleeing with a sum of cash.

Witnesses reported seeing the man running south along Bourke Street with a bag of cash.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 175 to 177cm tall with a medium build and had his face covered.

He was last seen wearing a dark-coloured baseball cap, a hooded purple-coloured rain jacket and blue-coloured pants.

Police have established a crime scene at the store and urge anyone with information on the alleged robbery to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
