Police search for missing tourist

Police are looking for a French tourist following the discovery of an abandoned tent near Lake Macquarie.

Campers alerted authorities to the tent and two sleeping bags on Monday morning which had been left unattended for about three days.

The items belong to 27-year-old French tourist Sandra Longeaud and police are trying to contact her.

A co-ordinated search of the area around Bangalow camping ground will commence on Wednesday.
