Police say woman harassed self for revenge

A western Sydney woman is behind bars after she allegedly orchestrated a fake campaign of harassment against herself motivated by a desire to frame another woman as a means of revenge.

Emma Elizabeth Arnold, 29, was arrested at a St Marys home on Wednesday after police uncovered CCTV footage that allegedly revealed she was responsible for the threatening messages.

Arnold appeared in Penrith Local Court on Wednesday where she did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.

The 29-year-old allegedly reported to police in August that she'd received a box containing photos and a death threat at her St Marys home, detectives say.

She also told officers she'd received threatening messages on her phone in May and July.

A police investigation then led to the arrest of a 51-year-old woman at a Blaxland home on August 26 and she was issued with an AVO.

But detectives allegedly later uncovered evidence which suggested Arnold herself was responsible for the threats.

Police believe Arnold attempted to frame the older woman as a form of revenge. They have hit her with a string of charges including making a false accusation to police.

She's due to front court again on November 8.
