Police pursue tip-off on missing NSW man

An anonymous tip-off about where a NSW man who vanished more than three weeks ago might be has left police searching for more information.

Steven Groat, 54, disappeared after leaving a friend's house in Orange on Saturday, December 19.

His abandoned blue VT Holden Commodore with registration BR-69-TQ was located in the Canobolas State Forest five days later.

A mystery caller phoned Crime Stoppers late on Monday night to offer information about Mr Groat's possible whereabouts.

Detectives hold grave fears for Mr Groat's safety and want to speak with the caller again.

Mr Groat is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 183cm tall, medium build, with brown hair and green/hazel eyes.
