Police are investigating reports a man tried to grab hold of a pram with a 14-month-old toddler while the child's mother was out jogging in Sydney's inner-west.

Gladesville mother Christine Thomas posted a warning on Facebook after she was approached by a man while pushing the pram along Timbrell Drive in Rodd Point on the Bay Run.

She told police the man tried to wrestle the pram out of her grip before a bystander intervened and the man ran off at around 10.30am yesterday.

She told parenthood blog Kidspot the man veered out of the bike lane towards her while she was out on her usual run.

"He was so strong," Ms Thomas said.

"I just remembered thinking, what am I going to do if he gets my son? How am I going to stop him?"

The man was described as being of average height and build, and was wearing a blue hooded jumper, pants, black gloves and had a NRL Bulldogs scarf wrapped around his face.

Detectives from Burwood Local Area Command are investigating and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Police would like to speak with the male bystander who assisted her.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
