Police end ground search for missing teens

Police have suspended a ground search for two missing teenagers who ran from officers into bushland southwest of Sydney.

Police had been searching for Robert Whitfield and Deng Lual, both of whom are 14 and believed to be lost in bushland east of Airds, where they were last seen on Monday.

The teens were in a black BMW when they allegedly became involved in a pursuit with police that started in Bradbury and ended in the reserve off Banooke Way, Airds.

One of the boys contacted his mother via a mobile phone about 8.50pm on Monday suggesting they were lost.

The search was narrowed down to an area near the Keith Longhurst Reserve.

An aerial and ground search on Monday evening failed to locate the boys.

After a break for the midweek stormy weather, crews had resumed the search on Wednesday.

Robert is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Island appearance, 150cm tall, with a thin build, short brown shaved hair and brown eyes.

Deng is described as being of African appearance with a dark complexion, 155-160cm tall, with a thin build, short dark hair and brown eyes.

Inquiries to locate the teens continue.
