Body of man found in NSW unit fire

The body of a man has been found after a fire engulfed a unit in the NSW Riverina town of Hay.

When firefighters arrived early on Wednesday the two-bedroom unit in Lachlan Street was well alight, Fire & Rescue NSW told AAP.

Crews managed to extinguish the blaze, which is not believed to be suspicious, in about 20 minutes but the home was completely destroyed.

The man's body, yet to be formally identified, was found during a search of the flat.
