State of Origin spectators were mostly well behaved during the nail-biting Game II, with just a handful of the 82,259-strong Sydney crowd getting into strife.

NSW Police have praised the behaviour of fans at the sell-out rugby league match at ANZ Stadium in Sydney Olympic Park on Wednesday night, where the Queensland Maroons claimed a win over the NSW Blues 18-16.

Three people were arrested during the high-visibility police operation from 3pm until 11pm for offences including assaulting police, resisting arrest and offensive behaviour, police say.

Thirty others were either ejected or refused entry to the ground for intoxication and anti-social behaviour.

"The crowd were, on the most part, generally well-behaved," a police spokeswoman said on Thursday.
