Officer punched in NSW brawl

A NSW man has been charged after a brawl left a police officer with chipped front teeth from a punch to the face.

Police were called to a hotel in Katoomba, west of Sydney, on Monday night following reports of people fighting.

As officers tried to break up the brawl, one was punched in the face, cutting his nose and chipping his teeth, while another suffered a knee injury, police said.

Police had to call for back-up before they were able to arrest a 23-year-old Wentworth Falls man, who has since been charged with resisting arrest and hindering police in the execution of their duty.

He was given bail and is due to appear in Katoomba Local Court on November 10.

Police are still looking for a second man and have urged anyone with information to contact them.
