NSW train worker allegedly bashed on XPT

A man has been accused of attacking a NSW transport worker on a train travelling from Sydney to Melbourne.

Police met the interstate service at Albury and arrested the 37-year-old from Marulan just after 3pm on Wednesday.

They allege he punched the NSW TrainLink employee several times and then kicked him when he fell to the floor.

The 59-year-old worker was treated in Albury Base Hospital for facial and head injuries before being discharged.

The accused man has been charged with assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, malicious damage and offensive language.

He has been refused bail to appear in Albury Local Court on Thursday.
