NSW teen charged over train seat toss

A teenager who allegedly threw a seat cushion from a moving train in Sydney has been arrested after his mother turned him in.

It was the boy's 14th birthday on Saturday but that didn't stop his mother taking him to Ryde Police Station, where he was charged with five offences.

A video was posted to Facebook on Friday which showed a group of boys opening a train door and one tossing a train seat cushion towards a busy North Shore road.

The teen was charged with two counts of entering a train's crew compartment without permission, and one count each of protruding part of the body from an open train door, throwing a thing from a public passenger vehicle, and throwing objects at vehicles.

He is due to appear at a children's court on April 4.
