NSW shop owner snatched in robbery

A shop owner has had a terrifying Australia Day after reporting he was kidnapped by a thief before being dumped on a Sydney roadside.

The 49-year-old man told police he was bundled into his car by a thief who walked into his shop on Island Point Road, Shoalhaven, and demanded cash at about 6.15pm on Monday.

The shopowner was found almost 40km away on Turpentine Road, Tomerong, at about 7pm.

Police say he suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The man's car, a blue-coloured Holden Commodore station wagon with NSW registration BPM-07G, has not been found.

Police are also investigating a second robbery that occurred a few minutes earlier at a supermarket on Paradise Beach Road, Sanctuary Point.

Police want anyone who sights the stolen car not to approach it, but to contact triple zero.
