AAP
The owner of a ceramics shop in southwest Sydney has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries after he was beaten by two men with metal bars during an attempted armed robbery.
Police say the would-be robbers entered the shop in Lansvale early on Friday evening and demanded cash.
When the 51-year-old owner refused, they attacked him with the bars before fleeing in a car they had parked nearby.
