NSW public transport cops get body cameras

Police officers patrolling public transport networks across NSW have been given body cameras in a bid to curb violent confrontations and resisted arrests.

The cameras, which cops will wear on their uniforms, can be switched on to capture video and audio of police interactions and operations.

The devices should help gather critical evidence, reduce injuries to officers and slash time spent on paperwork, NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Max Mitchell said on Thursday.
