A police officer has suffered a suspected broken nose after she was allegedly kicked in the face while arresting a man in Glen Innes on the NSW northern tablelands.

Police were arresting a 22-year-old man for allegedly breaching an apprehended domestic violence order, and were walking him back to the police truck when the man resisted.

Police say the officer was knocked to the ground and kicked in the face.

She was sent to Glen Innes hospital before being released after a few hours, and is expected to receive further treatment next week.

The man has been charged over assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and breaching an ADVO, was refused bail, and will appear in Armidale Local Court later on Saturday.
