NSW man's accessory murder charges dropped

A man on trial for being an accessory after the fact to the alleged torturous murder of another man in NSW has had the charges against him dropped.

Raquel Gaelle Hutchison and Paul Andrew Wilkinson, both 40, have pleaded not guilty in the NSW Supreme Court to the murder of a 41-year-old man, whose body was found dumped on a Wisemans Ferry road in October 2014.

Wilkinson was in a relationship with Hutchison at the time and their alleged victim was Hutchison's ex-husband.

At the start of the trial in August, crown prosecutor Margaret Cunneen SC alleged Daniel Greentree was their associate after he picked up two children from Hutchison and drove them elsewhere for a small sum of money.

Ms Cunneen said the dead man's autopsy indicated he had been "subjected to a severe, complex assault over a period of time" and his facial trauma could be explained by multiple punches and tape put over his mouth and nose.

Mr Greentree was accused of being an accessory after the fact to murder, and the backup charge of concealing another person's serious indictable offence, but was formally discharged on all counts in Sydney on Tuesday.

A Crown application for no further proceedings against Mr Greentree was accepted and the charges withdrawn.

Hutchison and Wilkinson's judge-alone trial before Justice Peter Hamill is set to resume on October 8.
