Three people have died in crashes on NSW roads in a single day.

A female motorcyclist was killed after striking a pedestrian near Armidale about 1.30pm on Thursday.

It's believed the pedestrian, another female motorcyclist, had stopped to pick up something off the road when she was struck.

She was airlifted to Tamworth Hospital with serious injuries, including leg fractures while the other woman died at the scene.

Earlier a teenager died after his car smashed into a tree near Canberra.

The 19-year-old man was killed after his car crashed in Hoskinstown, southeast of Canberra just before 8am on Thursday.

The man died at the scene.

In another fatal crash on NSW roads, a man died after his van ploughed into a power pole in Dubbo on Thursday morning.

The driver in his 50s died in hospital following the crash at Erskine and Darling streets.
