Charges laid over NSW pedestrian fatality

A 23-year-old drug-affected driver has been charged after she allegedly hit and killed an elderly pedestrian on the NSW south coast.

The woman was driving in Oak Flats last September when she allegedly hit the 78-year-old woman, NSW Police said in a statement on Tuesday.

The pedestrian was airlifted to St George Hospital in a critical condition but died two days later.

The 23-year-old was charged on Monday with negligent driving occasioning death and drive vehicle with illicit drug present in blood.

She will appear at Albion Park Local Court in June.

Meanwhile, a 57-year-old motorcyclist has died after he crashed into a signpost and was thrown from his bike on the Princes Highway at Blakehurst on Monday evening.
