NSW man charged with more than 40 offences

A man has been charged with a series of violence and property damage offences following his arrest at a doctor's surgery south of Newcastle.

The 34-year-old faces more than 40 charges including a number relating to stalking, intimidation, shop lifting, assault and leading police on a pursuit.

Officers arrested the man in Charlestown on Friday morning.

They say he was initially wanted in connection with warrants issued for larceny and holding stolen goods.

He is due to face Newcastle Local Court on Saturday.
