A NSW man who allegedly set fire to a home with three children and three adults inside has been charged with two counts of attempted murder.

The six people escaped from the Central Coast home unharmed following the fire last Friday, which caused extensive damage to the property.

A 68-year-old man was arrested at Wyong Hospital on Sunday morning and charged with two counts of attempt to murder by other means, damage property with the intention of endangering life, larceny and fraud.

The man was being treated for burns to his feet when he was taken into custody.

He was refused bail and was due before Wyong Local Court on Monday.
