NSW man charged over aged-care deaths

An aged-care employee has been charged with the murder of two elderly residents in Newcastle.
Police allege the 27-year-old man injected three people with lethal doses of insulin, killing 83-year-old Gwen Fowler and Ryan Kelly, 91, at the SummitCare facility in the suburb of Wallsend in October 2013.
A third woman, aged 91, fell critically ill but made a complete recovery.

Superintendent John Gralton said the arrest followed a 14-month investigation.
The man, of Red Head, on the Mid North Coast, was charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
He was arrested at Red Head on Wednesday morning, was refused bail, and was expected to appear at Newcastle Local Court later on Wednesday.
