NSW long weekend road toll rises to eight

The Anzac Day long-weekend road toll has risen to eight deaths following a fatal crash in Port Stephens in NSW's Hunter Region.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 53-year-old local man who died at the scene after his vehicle went off Pindima Road and down an embankment around 8pm on Anzac Day.

A crime scene has been established.

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man has been charged with several offences, including dangerous and negligent driving occasioning death, over a fatal head-on collision in Sydney's south earlier this month.

The man has been granted bail and is expected to face Sutherland Local Court on May 30.
