NSW jail guard sacked for Loveridge fling

A NSW female prison officer has been sacked following allegations she had an affair with the young man convicted of killing teenager Thomas Kelly in a one-punch attack.

Jody Marson, 30, was dismissed on Monday following investigations of an "improper relationship" with inmate Kieran Loveridge at a NSW mid-north coast correctional centre.

Loveridge, 21, was convicted of Mr Kelly's manslaughter in an unprovoked attack in Sydney's Kings Cross in 2012 and has since been moved to Goulburn Supermax prison.

A Corrective Services NSW spokesman said Ms Marson had "engaged in several instances of misconduct".

"As members of a law enforcement agency, the public rightly expects correctional officers to conduct themselves professionally and ethically at all times," NSW Corrective Services Assistant Commissioner James Koulouris added on Thursday.
