NSW murder accused stays in custody

A NSW man accused of bludgeoning his former partner to death in her southern Sydney home remains in custody after making a brief appearance in court.

Stephen Boyd, 51, is charged with murdering Tina Kontozis, 51, who was found bashed to death on Sunday.

Her 17-year-old son was taken to hospital with arm injuries police indicated were consistent with defence wounds.

Boyd was taken to Canberra and Queanbeyan Hospitals with a broken jaw and a neck injury believed to have been sustained during a pursuit earlier in the week.

He was extradited from the ACT and charged with four offences including murder, assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and contravening an apprehended domestic violence order.

On Friday he did not apply for bail - which was formally refused - when he appeared before Queanbeyan Local Court.

He also did not enter a plea to a range of other offences relating to the police pursuit.

The matter will return to Sydney's Central Local Court on June 21.
